Glenford Williams wins 2nd gold medal at Central American Athletics Championship in Nicaragua

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Glenford Williams won another gold medal for Belize in the Men’s U-18 110m hurdles 0.91 in 14.83 seconds at the Central American Championships in Managua, Nicaragua.

Silver went to Andrés Toralla of Guatemala in 14.87 and bronze to Oliver Palma of Nicaragua in 15.85.

Williams now has two gold medals at the Central American Championships. On Friday, Williams won gold in 100m in 11.14 seconds.

Williams lost an opportunity for a third medal when the Belize Men’s U-18 4x100m relay team did not compete on Saturday.

So far Belize has two gold medals, two silver, and one bronze.

Also on Saturday, Jada Logan finished fourth in the Women’s U-18 long jump in which she recorded a 4.45m mark. Danisha Chimillo of Guatemala won gold with a 5.45m jump.

Christopher Broaster, who on Friday won silver in the Men’s U20 800m, on Saturday finished 4th in the 1500m in 4:37.80. Kamerone Sainsbury did not compete. He placed 4th on Friday in the 800m.

Guatemalan Santiago Cerezo won gold in the 800m in 4:14.74.

The regional meet which features athletes from all of Central America started on Friday, July 30, and ends on Sunday, August 1.
