FFB renovates locker rooms at Norman Broaster Stadium, hands over to National Sports Council

Posted: Tuesday, August 3, 2021. 4:05 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As part of the cooperation program, the Football Federation of Belize renovated the locker rooms for players and officials at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio and officially handed them over to the National Sports Council (NSC) on Friday, July 30.

The FFB Secretary General Earl Jones said that after tropical storms Iota and Eta last year, the entire football field and the locker rooms at the Norman Broaster Stadium were flooded out.

“We applied to FIFA for funds to try and renovate the area and to make sure that we bring it back up to readiness for the restart of football,” Jones said.

“FIFA had approved a little over BZ$27,000 for the renovation. We went ahead. We got out tenders to get the work done, we submitted their bids.

“We had approval from FIFA and today we have finished the project, fully renovating the changing room and the locker room for the Norman Broaster Stadium and we’re handing it over now to the Sports Council for them to continue take care of,” Jones said

The official ribbon cutting was done by NSC Director Ian Cal and FFB Executive Member Cruz Gamez.

The Football Federation of Belize said that otherwise, it continues working on making all necessary preparations for the restart of the football in the country.
