By BBN Staff: Two days of searching for missing 22-year-old Belize City resident Carlos Daniel Guerra came to an end today when his body was retrieved from a riverbank this afternoon.
A joint search party consisting of members of the Belize Coast Guard, Roaring Creek Police, and family members located his body around 1:20 p.m. approximately 1.5 miles downstream of the Sibun River on the left side of the bank.
Guerra’s body was transported to the national forensic morgue in Ladyville where it awaits a post mortem examination.
Police are investigating the matter.
The official police report says that Guerra was swimming in the river in the Dark Night area of Franks Eddie Village sometime after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, when the current swept him away. Family members immediately called authorities and made efforts to locate him but were unsuccessful until today.
