By Aaron Humes: Four employees of the Belize City Council have tested positive for COVID-19, it has announced.
In a statement City Hall says the cases were found in different departments and different locations and it is working with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to contact trace for the disease.
Close contacts of the infected have been asked to get tested and isolate until the disease passes.
Various Council offices have been sanitized among other measures the Council is taking to prevent an outbreak.
The Council does not say if any of the four had any contact with Mayor Bernard Wagner, who tested positive last week and is in isolation.
This is the second time the Council has been afflicted; it lost prominent employee Hubert Pipersburgh in the first wave of the pandemic last April.
