By Aaron Humes: United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader Patrick Faber says the party supports Mayor Earl Trapp and Councilor Bernadette Fernandez “100 percent”, not just because they are UDP, but because they are of great integrity and honesty.
The bipartisan appearance of the Council at their swearing-in was a great start, he said, but as seen from the purported threatening tone of their recent letter effectively barring Mayor Trapp from hosting today’s briefing at the Town Hall.
Faber said that we must not forget Council workers dropped in other municipalities, regardless of their political affiliations, who have been directly fired to make way for political cronies and supporters and others because of their political affiliations.
Faber claims these terminations have been in the hundreds and from almost every single Ministry of the Government and surpassed in a short time the bitter fruit of the 1995-97 retrenchment carried out under the Sir Manuel Esquivel administration.
But he reiterated that people have a right to work and that the party is willing to work across the aisle.
