Belize Tourism Board: Belize Requires Negative Covid Test for All Travellers

By Aaron Humes: Whether vaccinated or no, starting Monday visitors to the Jewel must first present a negative COVID-19 test as the price of entry.

A statement from the Belize Tourism Board issued just a short while ago says, “These measures are being put in place in view of the increased risks posed by recent variants of the Covid-19 virus and in an effort to protect both international visitors and the local population.”

Visitors coming through the Philip Goldson International Airport must be tested within 96 hours (four days) of travel if PCR is present and half that from any approved antigen rapid test. If no test is presented, one will be done at the airport at the traveler’s cost of US$50 per passenger. The new regulation does not apply to children under five years of age.

Travelers entering Belize through the Northern and Western Borders will be administered a Rapid Test for COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, at their own expense. No external COVID-19 PCR or Rapid Test will be accepted at these points of entry.
