By Aaron Humes: The Embassy of Mexico in Belize and Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs is marking 40 years since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Mexico and Belize, within days of the latter’s independence.
A new logo has been created to highlight an essential part of their shared heritage – the indigenous peoples that populated both lands in ancient times.
The Olmec head donated to Belize in 2017 is joined to the Maya Jade Head found at Altun Ha and on display at the Museum of Belize. The former head is based in Belmopan.
The Embassy says, “The realization of this logo was a way of paying tribute to the great tradition and our shared values as neighboring peoples and friends, particularly during these challenging times.
The Embassy of Mexico says it will publish very soon a series of commemorative videos and virtual events to celebrate this historic occasion on social media outlets and YouTube channel.
