Man, 18, charged for ‘unlawful sex’ with 14-year-old girl

By BBN Staff: Joshua Lamar Swaso, 18, was charged in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, for having “unlawful sex” with a girl under the age of 16 years old.

He appeared today before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford, answering to the allegation that he had sex with a girl aged 14 years and 3 months sometime in April 2021.

In court, no plea was taken from Swaso since the offense he is charged with is an indictable matter that can only be tried at the Supreme Court.

Due to the nature of the offense, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 8, 2021.
