By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 501 Valvoline Cycling Team’s Oscar Quiroz won the 53-mile road race organized by the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) in conjunction with the Weekend Warriors.
According to the CFB, the race started by Leslie’s Imports on the George Price Highway went to Hattieville on to Data Pro on the Boom Road and back to the 8-mile roundabout on to the John Smith Road, PGIA roundabout and back to finish near Western Pines in Western Paradise.
Giovanni Lovell was 2nd and Westrac Cyling’s Carlton Robinson finished 3rd.
Alicia Thompson of Belize Bank Swoosh won the Women’s Category.
501 Valvoline’s Derrick Chavarria took the Junior Category followed by Goran Gabourel in 2nd.
Dwayne Wade captured first place in the Weekend Warriors A Category followed by Henry ‘Henno’ Moreira 2nd and Sherwin Roca 3rd.
Isaiah Willacey claimed the Weekend Warriors B Category. Kenny “Kuchin” Gooding was second and Santino ‘Chief’ Castillo third.
“Today’s event was a success with the support of the CFB and WW members along with the support of Mr. Steven Bisset, Dion Leslie, the Belize Police Department and Santino Castillo “Chief” for providing water service,” said the CFB. “Thanks to all who made the race possible under these tough circumstances.”
