15 individuals from 4 families displaced by fire in Caye Caulker

By Aaron Humes: A fire early this Tuesday has destroyed a family home on the island of Caye Caulker leaving 4 families and 15 individuals displaced.

According to police, cops responded shortly after 2 a.m. to a residence at Bahia, Puesta Del Sol area, Caye Caulker, finding a two storey wooden structure house engulfed in flames.

Initial investigation reveals that the occupants of the house were sleeping when they were awaken by some one shouting fire. As a result they all exited the house and notice that fire originated on the eastern side of the building.

Fire personnel and residents helped put it out but were unable to save the house and its contents.

The house and its contents are not insured. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained by the fire department personnel.

No one was injured and police investigations continue.
