By Aaron Humes: Cruise Law News reports that a cruise ship docking in Belize tomorrow morning, Wednesday, has confirmed cases of COVID-19 aboard.
The Carnival Vista, which left Galveston, Texas on August 7 had 23 crew members sickened; that number rose to 26 as of today with the ship in Roatan, Honduras.
Carnival has said that only a “small number” of guests are sick and that all guests are required to mask up.
The infected crew members are said to be quarantined in their cabins but there is no word on tracing of close contacts. Carnival has not yet said if any of the infected crew are symptomatic or require medical attention. It does insist that all its crew and almost all of the guests are vaccinated and there are processes for random testing.
Nonetheless the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified the ship as under investigation though provided no details.
After Belize the ship heads to Cozumel, Mexico on Thursday and back to Galveston on Saturday.
