CEO of Public Service asks for tally of unvaccinated workers

By Aaron Humes: CEO in the Ministry of the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform Rolando Zetina has asked by memo for a number of public servants and others who are not vaccinated by August 12.

That list includes as enumerated in SI 74 of 2021, health care workers; members of the Police, Belize Defence Force, and Coast Guard; teachers, tourism workers, Customs and Immigration officers, public transport operators, officers of the Transport Department, and public utilities. Workers at business process outsourcing (BPOs) offices have since been added.

These persons must be vaccinated against COVID-19, or present a PCR negative test every two weeks from August 1.

Persons who have gotten one shot and are waiting for their second are excluded.

Persons not in compliance are to be treated as absent from work and subject to disciplinary action.
