By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceno has told us he is hoping to be out of isolation as early as tomorrow as he awaits the results of his PCR test for COVID-19.
The P.M., members of Cabinet, Secretary Stuart Leslie, Chief Executive Officer Narda Garcia and other security and staff all tested negative for the virus with a rapid test issued today, while the PCR test results are being fastracked.
The P.M. said he would be working from home tomorrow, Wednesday, while awaiting the PCR result and maintained this was “just a precaution,” adding that “I and all my family members have had both vaccinations.”
His driver Edwin Hill has tested positive and is in isolation, but told us he had only a slight cough yesterday and no symptoms today. Hill is fully vaccinated and will repeat the test in a week’s time.
Both men encouraged Belizeans to go get vaccinated and ensure the virus will not spread and cause severe infection among the population.
