Bus drivers warned about overcrowding busses

By BBN Staff: The Department of Transport issued a reminder/warning bus operators today for them to be mindful of the number of people allowed on busses.

The department said that seating in vehicles for the purpose of public and private transportation is limited to 75 percent of the vehicle’s seating capacity, in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 9 of 2021

“Any bus operator who fails to comply with the regulation will be subject to disciplinary proceedings,” the Transport Department said.

The Department went on to say that it will continue to enforce the provisions of the relevant legislation by increasing its surveillance at bus terminals and checkpoints countrywide to ensure that the public health regulations in place are being adhered to and thanked bus operators for following the protocols to ensure the safe transportation of passengers.
