Kaya Cattouse wins silver, Oscar Quiroz takes bronze at Caribbean Cycling Championship in the Dominican Republic

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Good performance by the Belize National Cycling Team at the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, as Kaya Cattouse wins the silver medal and Oscar Quiroz takes bronze in the Elite Road Races on Thursday,  August 12.

Kaya Cattouse finished in second position in the 60 km (37.5 miles) Women’s Elite Category Road Race at Caribbean Cycling Championship behind Juana Fernandez of the Dominican Republic in one hour, 41 minutes and seven seconds.

The top five riders finished with the same time.

Oscar Quiroz won the bronze medal in the 90 km (56.25 miles) Men’s Elite Road Race in a field sprint that saw the Joshua Kelly of Barbados take gold and Jonathan Ogando of the Dominican Republic win silver. The three clocked 1:53:31.

Justin Williams finished in 12^th position 1 minute and three seconds behind and Byron Pope was 15^th trailing by 4 minutes and 32 seconds.

Walters Red of St Vincent and the Grenadines won the 90 km U23 Road Race in 1:53:31.

Belizean Joshua Fuller was 14^th trailing by only 33 seconds.
