By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The University of Belize (UB) says its classes for Semester 1 of the 2021-2022 Academic year will continue being online.

UB said in a press release that they have been continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation which remains ‘fluid’ and returning to normalcy must be done with ‘utmost caution’.

“After extensive consultations, it was decided that for Semester 1 of the new academic year, the university will continue delivering teaching and learning online,” said UB in a statement.

“Only laboratory sessions and internships/field experience will be conducted face to face at the University. These sessions will be conducted in strict observance of all health protocols as directed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness of the Government of Belize.”

UB said the university will continue monitoring the situation and makes changes as necessary.

“The health and welfare of our students, faculty and staff are of paramount importance to us. We implore students, faculty and staff to protect themselves by getting vaccinated,” the statement ended.
