By Aaron Humes: 38-year-old Esvin Arana was menaced by two younger men asking for another man only referred to as “Kaliche” on Friday afternoon.

Arana, of Maya Mopan, Belmopan, was found bleeding from chop wounds to the face, body and abdomen around 4:30 pm on Friday and was taken to the Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan, for treatment.

According to Arana, he was at home when two teenage Hispanic boys arrived, masked, and asking for one “Kaliche”. Arana said he told them that he does not know any one by that name. Both the boys then began to attack Arana with machetes and fled the area thereafter.

Arana is listed in a critical but stable condition.

Police investigations continue.
