Police investigating fatal traffic accident in Cayo that killed Jaylon Alvarez

By BBN Staff: Police have taken a blood sample from the driver of a vehicle involved in a traffic accident last night that claimed the life of 19-year-old Jaylon Alvarez.

Reports are that Valdemir Lino, 27, was driving from San Ignacio to Santa Elena when he made a left turn at the corner of Branch Mouth Road and Loma Luz Boulevard. Upon making the turn he heard a loud bang on the passenger side of his vehicle and his wife, Noemi Godoy began complaining of pain.

He drove about 150 feet from the junction and made checks to find someone lying face down, bleeding from the face. He called for an ambulance, which took Godoy and the injured man, later identified as Alvarez to the San Ignacio Hospital for treatment; however, Alvarez died on the way.

Investigations into the incident continue at this time. No notice of intended prosecution has been issued.
