By Aaron Humes: A father was shot multiple times on Sunday night in Belize City as he tried to block his two (2) sons from a gunman and his accomplice carrying out a brazen home invasion, well after curfew.
Forty nine year old Joseph Panting, better known as “Tencho” and his two sons had gone to sleep when they heard someone outside calling for one of his sons. The elder Panting went to answer the door and met two young men, one of whom he recognized. The man he recognized suddenly opened fire with his firearm, injuring Panting to the left shoulder, then stepped inside after his real targets.
Joseph Panting tried to block the shooter from his sons, literally taking bullets for them, but the elder 13 year old son was also injured. “Tencho,” who received multiple gunshot injuries, and the elder son were taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment.
Both are in stable condition and police say they know who the shooter was.
