Joseph Budna wanted again, according to Crime Stoppers International, Interpol Red Notice

Posted: Monday, August 16, 2021. 10:38 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The International Criminal Police Organization, known as Interpol, has issued a red notice for the arrest of Joseph Budna, 41.

On its official social media page, Crime Stoppers International reports that Budna is wanted in the United States on charges of “1) Hostage Taking (2) Conspiracy to Commit Hostage Taking (3) Using and Carrying a Firearm during and in Relation to a Crime of Violence,” and says it is possible that he fled home to Belize.

Budna fled Guatemala after a 30-year prison sentence was handed down on charges of robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and escape. He had been in a hospital in Guatemala for medical treatment.

Budna faced one charge here at home for drug trafficking but as of 2019 had not been tried. He was officially free as he faced no charges here and Belize and Guatemala have no extradition treaty.

Budna has repeatedly and consistently denied all charges made against him.

Addressing Budna directly, CSI states, “As the global leader on anonymous reporting we GUARANTEE tipsters anonymity. As such, we are encouraging anyone with information regarding your current location, wherever that might be in the world, to anonymously let us know by clicking the “Contact Us” button on our Page. Doing our part to get the whole world looking for you, Crime Stoppers International.

If you have seen him, contact your nearest police station or the local office of Crimestoppers at 0-800-922-8477 (TIPS).”
