By BBN Staff: Police believe that 38-year-old Esvin Arana, who was brutally stabbed to death on Friday, August 13, was murdered in connection with another stabbing incident that happened earlier that day; however, his family disagrees with that sentiment.
Today, Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, said that police received information that the Arana stabbing was connected to the fatal stabbing of 30-year-old William Pook. Elder Arana, brother of the deceased, contended with that statement, saying that his brother did not associate with Pook.
“He doesn’t hang with Pook like that. We don’t talk to them because those young men like to steal. We know what kind of people they are,” Arana said.
He noted that the two men that killed his brother came looking for a man known by the nickname “Kaliche” and when Arana said that he was not there, they sat down for a while crushing marijuana, and then left. One of the men later came back through the front of the yard to distract Esvin, while the other snuck up from behind him with a knife. The first man then grabbed a pair of scissors and they both repeatedly stabbed him to death.
Police are investigating.
