By Aaron Humes: The Government must engage stakeholders the way its predecessors did to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, UDP Party Leader Patrick Faber said today during a press conference.
With active cases at their highest in six months, the party said it is everyone’s interest to help fight the disease.
On the question of vaccination, Faber maintained that it is a choice. “We encourage all to be vaccinated,” said Faber, “but if there is a group of people who say they do not want to be vaccinated then the Government must accommodate them.”
The party received a complaint that a Covid-positive person was told to take a week off because, it is alleged, there was a shortage of tests. Those subject to mandatory testing as frontline workers if they are not vaccinated should not have to pay, he added.
And as Faber reminds, vaccinated or not, anyone can be a transmitter of the virus and with all our other problems this one is preventable. Keeping all protocols and getting vaccinated is the first line of defense, he emphasized.
