By Aaron Humes: Workers at Belize’s major ports in Belize City and Big Creek, as well as those in the General Post Office, will be added to the list of frontline workers who must get vaccinated or submit to testing every two weeks to continue working.

During a press call shortly after the official donation of the Pfizer vaccine, Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat said this had become necessary because these workers were in close contact with the public on a regular basis. He did not say what specifically necessitated this addition.

The lengthening list of front line workers includes health and tourism workers, public servants, law enforcement and defense, teachers and business process outsourcing workers, such as at call centers.
