By Aaron Humes: A ceremony at the Philip Goldson International Airport is underway for the donation of Belize’s allocation of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer courtesy of the Government of the United States of America.
Charge d’affaires ad interim Leyla Moses-Ones will hand over to Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat and CEO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amalia Mai on behalf of the Government of Belize.
The donation represents a new way forward in the vaccination campaign as these are specifically earmarked for children ages 12 to 17, which will help as schools resume next week.
It also represents an alternative for some that did not want the AstraZeneca vaccine which was linked to rare instances of blood clots in some patients.
We’ll have more from the ceremony as it progresses.
