BREAKING: 3 new deaths reported as third wave takes its toll on Belize

Aaron Humes: Three more persons have died of COVID-19, bringing the total for this week to nine, the total this year to 66 and the overall total to 350 or 2.28 percent of the population.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports that active cases of COVID-19 are now at 870 with the addition of 111 new cases in the past 24 hours against 72 persons recovered.

435 cases are newly under investigation.

16 persons are actively hospitalized and five are in intensive care.

The total number of cases now stands at 15,334, as according to the Ministry 41 positive cases were added that had been classified erroneously as follow-up tests. There was a data quality check done as part of the Ministry’s protocols for ensuring accurate data. 14,093 have recovered.

More than 195 thousand Belizeans have been tested.
