Belize City, Greater Cayo lead COVID table

By Aaron Humes: The Belize City area and the Greater San Ignacio/Santa Elena region lead today’s COVID-19 tables.

Belize City added 21 new cases and San Ignacio 12, the latter dealing with fallout from a cluster among staff at the community hospital.

Elsewhere in the Belize District, there were two more cases in Caye Caulker and three in Ladyville, with five reported in San Pedro Town.

Belmopan added four cases, Camalote three and Bullet Tree Falls two, with one each in Ontario, San Antonio, Spanish Lookout and San Jose Succotz.

Elsewhere in the country, six cases were reported in Orange Walk Town; two each in Corozal Town, Trial Farm, Orange Walk District; and Independence and Placencia, both Stann Creek District.

One case each was reported in Calcutta and Ranchito, Corozal District; San Jose Palmar, San Roman and Yo Creek, Orange Walk District; Dangriga Town, Hope Creek, Hopkins, Pomona and San Juan (Cowpen), Stann Creek District; and Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District.

Mainland Belize District has reported 4,303 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic; Cayo District, 2,992; Orange Walk, 2,851; Stann Creek, 1,729; Corozal, 1,676; Toledo, 1,118; and San Pedro, 746.
