Belize City man wanted by police under state of emergency powers

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has issued a warrant for 25-year-old Ainsworth Foreman, as the crackdown on Belize City gangs continues.

Police say that Foreman is wanted on the strength of a detention order for gang offences.

Anyone with information of his whereabouts is urged to report it by calling 922 or the nearest police station.

Since Thursday, August 19, police have been conducting operations empowered by Statutory Instrument #90 of 2021, which declared a state of emergency in the south side of Belize City.

Officers are rounding up known gang affiliates and taking them to jail for a month under the order.
