BREAKING: At least 30 staff members of the San Ignacio community hospital test positive for COVID-19

By Aaron Humes: Breaking Belize News has learned from reliable sources that at least 30 members of staff of the San Ignacio Community Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent days.

This includes at least four doctors, a number of nurses, and a number of technical and ancillary staff.

Earlier the Ministry of Health confirmed the existence of a cluster of infections at the hospital, which serves the Twin Towns and most of western Cayo District.

The Ministry said it had isolated those affected, sanitized the hospital, and will continue to offer emergency and critical services while curtailing service at satellite clinics in Santa Elena, San Antonio, and Bullet Tree Falls.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues to ask residents to adhere to public health measures, get vaccinated, and immediately report all symptoms to the nearest health professional.
