Posted: Friday, August 20, 2021. 8:02 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has issued detention orders for over 30 men from the south side of Belize City, as a part of the crackdown on gang violence launched on Thursday.

Police issued wanted posters for 37 men today, all of whom are wanted for gang-related offences.

Those being sought by police are as follows: Ainsworth Foreman, Jervis Diamond Valencia, Rudolph Lawrence, Albert Valentine, Kenroy Willoughby, Keshawn Willoughby, Emmanuel Willoughby, Edwin Swazo, Stephen Mejia, Lindon Hinds, Mervin Martin, Justo Bernardez, Christopher Hyde, Clarence Lamb, Israel Usher, Alton Garcia, Tyrel Moreira, Jahlil Craig, Deandre Adolphus, James Fitzgibbon, Jason Anderson, Shardick Lord, Alexander Underwood, Austin Underwood, Keshawn Gentle, Verris Ventura, Steven Palma, Robert McDonald, Tony Mcdonald, Jalen Babb, Edward Flowers, Steve Moss, Ellis Meighan, Jamal Brackett, Kenrick Gordon, Kenyon Flores, and Justin Burns.

Once apprehended, the men will spend a month in jail, as prescribed by the state of emergency declared through Statutory Instrument #90 of 2021.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said this week that the state of emergency became necessary as feuding gangs in the city have escalated violence to the point where homes are being burned down and people are living in fear, while witnesses and victims refuse to come forward to make statements so that police can charge those responsible for the crimes.
