BREAKING: Murder/suicide in Belize City confirmed; victims are police officer, teenager, and security guard

By Aaron Humes: A police officer from Belize City is among the dead in what appeared to be a double homicide and apparent suicide this morning in the Kings Park area of Belize City.

The victims have been identified as police officer Arilee Young; a minor, Shania Hyde, 17; and security guard Glenford Perriott.

Information to us suggests that Perriott went home Friday night with his job-issued firearm and got into an altercation with the women, after which he allegedly shot them both in the chest and head and then himself.

Police had initially responded to the reports of shots fired around 3 a.m. this morning but did not locate anything. The bodies were found inside the residence on Fourth Street by a yard man a few hours later.

Police investigations continue.
