By Aaron Humes: Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing Julius Espat appears to have come through his bout with COVID-19 well.
Writing on social media today, the Cayo South area representative admits that his positive test was “frightening” despite being fully vaccinated, but he felt “little to no symptoms” during his time on the shelf.
Espat was the sole member of Cabinet to test positive two weeks ago after the Prime Minister’s driver tested positive and forced the Executive briefly into self-isolation.
According to Espat, “…in a strange way I consider myself lucky to have had this experience. It has given me time to reflect on those that did not have the luxury of getting the vaccine; like my dear colleague David “Dido” Vega, and countless others who have lost their lives to this pandemic.”
His message is: “Get vaccinated. If not for yourself, do it for those that could only dream of a vaccine to save their lives.Do your part to protect yourself and protect Belize.”
So far more than 150 thousand Belizeans have heeded the call, with 60 thousand fully vaccinated. Children aged 12 to 17 are to be added to that list as of Monday.
