By Benjamin Flowers: The National Council on Ageing (NCA) has a new Chairperson, Pastor Catalina Arthurs.
Minister of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs announced Arthurs’ appointment on Friday.
Arthurs, a resident of Ladyville Village, leads the Joint Heirs with Christ Ministry of Mile 11 Philip Goldson Highway and also has experience in prison ministry. She and her congregation are also contributors at Liberty Children’s Home and the Golden Haven Rest Home during harvest time. Pastor Arthurs also supports needy residents in Belize City, Lords Bank, and Ladyville with food assistance and other social and ministry outreach.
“We warmly welcome Pastor Arthurs to this important post and we have every confidence that she will, at the helm of the National Council on Ageing, work tirelessly for all senior citizens of Belize and to enhance policies and programs for older persons,” the Ministry of Human Development said.
Arthurs will be working alongside Ix-Chel Poot and Cherene Rivero of the NCA secretariat in Belmopan to continue the work of the council, which includes public education, advocacy, and support for older persons.
