Dr. Fernando Cuellar among 15 persons hospitalized with COVID-19

By Aaron Humes: Internist Dr. Fernando Cuellar is among 15 individuals hospitalized, mainly in Belize City, with COVID-19.

The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) maintains the primary COVID-19 unit with ventilators and other equipment but has been stretched to capacity in recent days as more persons are hospitalized with the virus.

The Ministry says three persons are in intensive care, relying on ventilators to help them breathe.

Dr. Cuellar is among those on oxygen as he continues his fight with the disease.

The country is dealing with the third wave of COVID-19 which has lifted active cases to close to a thousand and required more stringent measures including the limiting of funerals, indoor dining, and visits to casinos.
