By BBN Staff: A Belize City man was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court today on a single count of handling stolen goods, some of which he sold off through a Facebook “Buy and Sell” page.
Akeem Ferguson, 26, appeared unrepresented and pleaded guilty to the charge. He was granted bail in the sum of $1,500.00 plus one surety of the same amount which he met by this afternoon. Ferguson is due back in court on October 1, 2021.
Police said they found Ferguson in possession of an assortment of items with a total value of $979.50, which were stolen from Orange Walk resident Yasminie Sylvester Cantun, 29, during a burglary earlier this month.
Officers tracked some of the stolen items through a Facebook page to someone in Ladyville, who said that he had purchased the items from Ferguson and another man.
Police are still looking for one suspect and the remainder of the items, which are valued at over $2,500.
