Twelve-year-old girl suffers rape ordeal in home bathroom

By Aaron Humes: One person has been detained in the apparent rape of a minor girl, 12, in the San Mateo section of San Pedro Town.

The girl and her mother, whom we will not identify to protect the victim’s identity, told police that on Saturday evening around 7:50 p.m., she had gone outside to use the bathroom which is separate from the house.

Her attacker pushed her from behind and forced her into the structure, switched off the lights and forced sexual assault and intercourse on her. Thereafter her mother came searching for her but the attacker kept his hand over her mouth and threatened to harm her to keep her quiet.

Eventually he let her go and she told her mother she could not open the door. The mother pushed open the door, put on the lights and discovered the attacker hiding behind the curtain.

Police were called and the suspect detained. An examination certified carnal knowledge but police on the island continue their investigations.
