Institute of Archaeology issues notice of closure for Nohoch Cheen Archaeological Reserve and ATM cave

Posted: Tuesday, August 24, 2021. 3:08 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Institute of Archeology (IoA) has announced today that the Nohoch Cheen Archaeological Reserve and the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave are closed to the public.

The IoA said that the sites are closed due to elevated river levels, which make it unsafe for visitors.

All other archaeological sites remain open at this time.

The institute asked visitors at the sites to exercise caution and adhere to all COVID-19 regulations.
