Ministry of Health and Wellness intensifies vaccination drive targeting the 12-17 year-old population

Posted: Tuesday, August 24, 2021. 7:57 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness received 111,000 Pfizer BioN-Tech vaccines and is actively rolling out its vaccination drive to inoculate the younger population aged 12-17.

The Ministry of Health also said the vaccine is for all children 12-17, so those who are not in school can show up at the vaccination centers to get their vaccines.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness said it encourages all parents and legal guardians to have their children vaccinated saying the Pfizer vaccine has now been given full approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration for individuals 12 years and older.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, said the Ministry of Health, significantly reduces the chances of infection and symptomatic disease and it helps prevent illness if infected.

The Ministry says the Pfizer vaccine is given in two doses, 21 days apart.

A signed consent from parents or guardians is required for the children to be administered the vaccine. The children are required to present a valid ID, preferably a Social Security Board card.

The Ministry has been posting the vaccinations schedules on social media and encourages all to follow their Facebook page. Notices are also posted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology on where and when to get vaccinated. The Ministry also said anyone may call them at 822-2325.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness also said that the children should have breakfast or lunch and they should also be well hydrated before getting the vaccine.
