A COVID wedding at the Biltmore

Posted: Wednesday, August 25, 2021. 10:29 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Tonight, two souls were joined in holy matrimony – but there are a whole lot of objections to the ceremony, not the marriage.

However, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has seen no just cause why the wedding ceremony should not go ahead.

A letter from Minister Michel Chebat has surfaced addressed to general manager of the Belize Biltmore Plaza, Ted Tejada, advising that subject to certain conditions, a wedding of an Indian descent national said to be attended by one hundred persons could go ahead.

In accordance with section 6 of SI 74 of 2021, covering exemptions on the restriction of gatherings for social purposes, the Minister said he is satisfied that he has sufficient evidence that all of the guests are at least partially vaccinated.

Nonetheless, everyone must wear masks, wash and sanitize their hands and keep physical distancing – rather difficult at certain parts of the ceremony, we imagine.

Congratulations to the bride and groom and their supporters.
