By Aaron Humes: The Statistical Institute of Belize reports that second quarter gross domestic product rose by 22 percent to $711.4 million.
This almost reversed the 20 percent drop in the same time period last year, directly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Belize had seen no less than six quarters of negative growth dating back to before the pandemic as a result of agricultural shortfalls.
The tertiary or services sector rose 11 percent with smaller increases in the primary or agricultural sector and the secondary or manufacturing sector.
