By Aaron Humes: Belize has passed the billion-dollar mark for imports as of July, with $1.1 billion in goods imported.
It is a return to form after a blip caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Increases were seen in imports of fuel, clothing and footwear for the Free Zone, manufactured goods and machinery and transport equipment as well as chemical products like diagnostic testing kits.
Exports rose more modestly to $232 million, mainly from animal feed, molasses and bananas, while other major exports fell back.
