Active cases closing in on 1,000 with 100 new cases; no deaths reported

By Aaron Humes: 100 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the fourth consecutive day this week of triple-digit numbers if the weekend figure is taken into account. 78 more persons have recovered.

This puts the number of active cases at 991, above the number at the same time last year during the second surge of the virus.

671 samples are under investigation.

Twelve persons remain hospitalized, three in intensive care, but no new deaths have been reported, keeping that figure at 356 and breaking a streak that started last week.

Belize is rapidly approaching 16 thousand total cases, but also 15 thousand recoveries.

Belizeans are reminded to be vigilant and observe the Public Health Regulations and get vaccinated if and when they can.
