By Aaron Humes: Two families are waiting on bad news from across the border in Mexico, where two men were shot in separate incidents 24 hours apart.

The first incident, according to a family member who spoke with Channel 7 News, took place on Monday night as he was leaving a residence. The family has identified the victim from a photograph and is now working to bring him home.

The second incident took place on Tuesday during what is believed to be a police shootout in Chetumal.

According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, authorities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been contacted but nothing official has been given to police.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Belize to Mexico Oscar Arnold said authorities in Chetumal are investigating and working to confirm the identities of both men and get them home to their families.
