By Aaron Humes: Belize City has added 42 new cases of COVID-19, deepening a sense of inevitability of potential lockdown if the outbreak cannot be contained.
The other big jumps in cases are in San Pedro Town with 19, and Orange Walk Town with 11.
Elsewhere in the Belize District, there were four new cases in Ladyville, three in Caye Caulker and Western Paradise; two in Lord’s Bank and one each in Bermudian Landing, Hattieville, La Democracia, Lemonal, Maskall, and Scotland Halfmoon.
In Cayo there were two cases each in Camalote, Georgeville, and San Ignacio, and one each in Belmopan and Salvapan, Benque Viejo, Teakettle, Unitedville and Valley of Peace.
In Orange Walk District, there were additionally two cases in Yo Creek and one each in August Pine Ridge, San Felipe, San Pablo, and Trial Farm. The Corozal District had a single case in Consejo.
Placencia added two new cases and Hummingbird Community, Pomona and Sarawee one each. Punta Gorda added two new cases, Cattle Landing and Sunday Wood one each.
The mainland Belize District now has 4,615 cumulative cases; Cayo 3,059; Orange Walk 2,924; Stann Creek 1,793; Corozal 1,693; Toledo, 1,135; and San Pedro, 796.
