By Aaron Humes: Following the death of Angelica Consuelo Rodriguez Flores, 64, domestic of Alta Vista Street, San Ignacio, police are to increase charges on the unnamed assailant who inflicted injuries to her and two other women on Monday.

According to police, on Monday morning Roxana Alejandra Garcia, 27, had an argument with her common-law husband that escalated to violence when he took a piece of steel rod and beat her, leaving a cut wound to her forehead.

Roxana’s sister Emerita, 20, and their mother Angelica heard Roxana screaming and rushed to her aid, but the assailant beat them too, leaving Emerita with a wound to her forehead and Angelica with a wound to the back of her head and body pain. Each was taken to San Ignacio Town Community Hospital and one has been transported to Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan, where she is said to be in critical condition.

The assailant turned himself in to San Ignacio Police and was initially charged with grievous harm.
