Digi customers to experience problems when interacting with SMART numbers

By BBN Staff: The state-owned telecom provider Digi issued a notice to customers this morning that they may encounter problems interacting with users of rival company, SMART.

“Digi customers countrywide are advised that they may experience issues when making calls or receiving calls from Smart numbers,” the company said this morning, “Our technicians are working diligently to resolve this issue.”

Notably, the expected problems come at a time when several government departments have switched their telecom provider to SMART and GOB awarded a contract of over $3 million to SMART for the provision of Microsoft Office subscriptions.

Prime Minister John Briceño, recently commented on the issue, stressing the Digi needs to learn to compete as his government will be going with whichever company provides the best prices. SMART, is notably owned by the Briceño family.
