Motorcycle rider served with notice of intended prosecution after knocking down and killing a man in southern Belize

By BBN Staff: Police have served a man with a notice of intended prosecution after he knocked down and killed someone on the Stann Creek Valley Road on Saturday evening.

Michael Acosta told police that he was riding his motorcycle out of Dangriga when at around Mile 9, he saw a man staggering in the middle of the highway. Acosta said that he tried to avoid the man, but he still staggered in the path of his motorcycle and was knocked down. The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Hope Creek resident, Bartholomew Stanley.

Police have detained Acosta pending the outcome of an investigation.
