140 new COVID cases reported as third wave continues to surge through Belize

By Benjamin Flowers: The surge of COVId-19 cases in Belize described by medical professionals as a “third wave” continued today as 140 new infections were reported.

The Ministry’s latest daily update showed that the 140 new cases were detected from a sample batch of 1,513 tests.

New cases were split between 76 females and 64 males.

The country’s national total for infections has reached 16,493, while the daily positivity rate stood at 9.50.

Yet again, the Belize District recorded the most cases nationally, representing 62 of the day’s total, with 50 of those coming from Belize City.
