Five artists capture spirit of Belize, Taiwan friendship

By Aaron Humes: The Belize-Taiwan Song project is hoped to put a little beat into the September feeling this year according to the National Institute of Culture & History (NICH).

The five pieces selected cover various genres including Punta, Soca, Pop, and Brukdong, and were produced by the Belize-Taiwan Songs Project through which a call was put for songs to be submitted in two categories: Belize Song and Belize-Taiwan Friendship Song.

The five selected songs are: Savor The Moment by Nello Player, International Friends by TR Shine, Work Together by Concego Ta Leh, Belize Home by Cocono Bwai and Let Me Take You There by Shaunna “Boss Lady” Williams.

The project was initiated by Belize’s Ambassador to The Republic of China (Taiwan) Her Excellency Dr. Candice Pitts with funding from the Central America Trade Office.

The purpose of the Belize-Taiwan Songs Project is to facilitate cultural diplomacy, promote Belize through our music and art, and provide opportunities for our Belizean musicians to access an international market. A second phase of the project will cover music video production.
