Wu congratulated Belize on behalf of President Tsai Ing-wen and the people of Taiwan on the attainment of independence from the United Kingdom promising Taiwan will continue working with Belize in strengthening the bilateral partnership.

Wu referred to Belize as one of Taiwan’s important diplomatic allies in the Caribbean region and invited Prime Minister Briceño to visit Taiwan when the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.

On Saturday, Taiwan Ambassador to Belize David Kuang-Chou Chien also congratulated Belize on occasion of the 40th anniversary of our independence at the orientation of 51 Belizean students who received scholarships to study in Taiwanese universities.

“This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Belizean independence,” said Ambassador Kuang-Chou Chien. “Taiwan joins the people and the government of Belize in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Belize’s independence.”
