Kareem Musa: Fighting crime during the State of Emergency

By Aaron Humes: Murders such as that of nine-year-old Jamir Mckoy still have the power to shock, and the medicine of the State of Emergency is bitter, but Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa said the plan is in place for change.

The time that the gangsters (469 by the Ministry’s count) are off the streets is being dedicated to scholarships for the vulnerable, eyes on the Old Capital, rebuilding community trust, and plotting an all-out war against crime at every level with all of the Government’s and people’s resources brought to bear.

To return to our innocent days of 40 years ago, never mind 13, said Musa, we must learn from each other and that sense of community spirit that has been built in us ever since we made the decision to split from Great Britain.
